ILR Reading Analysis Tool

SmartILR examines reading passages across the dimensions that ILR-trained raters use: how the text is organized, how demanding the vocabulary is, how much background knowledge the reader needs, and how complex the sentence structures are. From that analysis, SmartILR places the passage on the ILR scale and provides a written justification.

Teachers can paste any reading passage — a news article, a textbook excerpt, an authentic document — and receive an immediate analysis without needing to consult a rating manual or convene an expert panel.

SmartILR supports reading analysis in Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and other languages. Texts in non-Latin scripts, including Arabic, are processed natively without requiring transliteration.
